Toronto’s newest marketplace is focusing on global flavours with local sustainable ingredients and creative artisan products. The market runs every Friday through to the end of September. Bringing street food to Toronto!
Facebook: 11 Wellesley Market
Food Forward is collaborating as a partner on the project with a developer - considering the ability of new housing developments to be involved in bringing new places to grow, buy, cook and share food - See Building Roots. The Market is presented by Lanterra Developments, in partnership with the Bay Cloverhill Community Association, Ryerson University, Food Forward and supported by City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam.
Where: 11 Wellesley in the parking lot of the Lanterra Sales Centre, easily accessible from Wellesley or Breadalbane.
When: Every Friday from August 22 to September 26, 2014 from 11AM-4PM
The market is providing an opportunity for entrepreneurs as part of business incubation programs, while providing Torontonians with a new access point for fresh food options and to support small business - See: Jobstarter. Local residents have worked hard for a proposed park at the space, and the market is acting as a connecting point for residents to consider future uses of the space.
