Welcome to Food Forward

Fresh Events in Toronto

Toronto's food movement is getting ready for the next big thing. A film showing of Fresh and events leading up are all the buzz.

Watch the trailer and come out Thursday night at Bloor Cinema to see the film and some of Food Forward's partners and supporters at a panel afterwards.

This week's events include an Evening at the Stop Community Food Centre Tuesday night.

All details can be found at the Radishes & Rhubarb blog.

More Seats at the Table, says Pantalone

Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone on August 18 becomes the first municipal candidate to launch a comprehensive food policy. Food Forward congratulates Pantalone for his healthy policy touching a number of good food priorities which, if implemented, would lead to a healthier, more sustainable Toronto with stronger neighbourhood vitality.

See his policy committments here: “More Seats at the Table”: Joe Pantalone’s Plan for Food Prosperity

He also signed a pledge on food & farming developed for municipal candidates across Ontario by Sustain Ontario's which can be found at our Recipe page.

Does your neighbourhood have a community garden?

Last week we visited beautiful gardens in Flemingdon park and Thornfliffe Park - one new, one very old. They had waiting lists of at least 1-2 years to get a spot. The benefits the gardeners spoke of were endless.

Attending an all-candidates meeting? Ask your councillor how they'll break down the barriers of starting gardens in the City, like this one by Greenest City in Parkdale.
